Our Services

Jurita Limited aims to provide children and young people from 8 -17 years of age with a safe and nurturing support where they can work toward reaching their full potential. It is our objective to provide high-quality care, education and pastoral support in a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment that meets the needs of individual children and young people.

Our principal activities will be to support children and young people’s achievements and progress in the areas of health, education, social, psychological and emotional development. The care & education system for children in England, has had a significant transformation in recent years.

Much of what has happened in the homes and our schools has been driven by changes in policy, such as a shift in priorities with wide-ranging implications for those who manage, work and live in them. COVID 19 has also played part in the number of young people within the social care system and out of education.

Children placed in residential care typically arrive as teenagers, often after multiple foster care placements and most without a school placement. They tend to have complex needs including mental health, emotional and behavioural problems as a result of childhood trauma. According to government figures, 30% are placed as a result of abuse or neglect, while the same percentage has experienced significant instability with five or more different placements. Some 38% of children in residential settings have special educational needs. They are also more likely to be in contact with the criminal justice system.

We are dedicated to meeting the Care, Educational, Pastoral and Therapeutic needs of all our young people. Our mission is to bring Hope, Courage and Self Worth to all our young people. This mission is a reflection of the fact that at the heart of our organisation is our belief in a “can do” attitude and never giving up on any young person.

CHILDREN'S HOME

As an organisation, we are dedicated to meeting the Care, Educational, Pastoral and Therapeutic needs of all our young people. We are able to accommodate Looked after Children and young people aged 8 – 17 years (at the time of admission) of either gender.  â€‹The home is able to offer support to a range of other needs of children including providing emergency and respite accommodation to young people who may be experiencing placement breakdown, family crisis, respite care, or remand into the care of the local authority by the courts or the police. The home will welcome medium to long term placements. The purpose is to offer a safe, structured and caring environment to children and young people who are living away from parents or guardians, or where fostering is not currently appropriate. Our approach to working with young people has been developed to incorporate a variety of methods, with the emphasis on the importance of relationships and support tailored to individual need and achieving the goals of individual care plans (e.g. family reunification, preparation for independence, stable nurturing environment providing long term care to independence).

EDUCATION

At Jurita, we recognise that a significant proportion of looked after children residing in children’s homes have special educational needs or have faced significant barriers to learning due to experiencing severe trauma, mental health difficulties or have been excluded or out of education for significant periods of time. It may be necessary to address and work through past experiences and present needs before they can positively participate in learning activities and formal/ full time education.  All our young people will have an education care plan when accommodated with us. This plan will identify those young people who have an Education and Health Care (EHC) plan. We will ensure that any targets and support plans identified within the child’s EHCP are incorporated into their education placement plan. This will support both the child and staff team to identify how they can offer individual support to the young person and what areas are to be monitored in order to measure effectiveness of support. We work in partnership with Chisona Academy to provide outstanding educational support for all our young people ensuring they achieve their full potential.

PASTORAL & WELFARE

We are dedicated to meeting the Care, Educational, Pastoral and Therapeutic needs of all our young people. Our mission is to bring Hope and Self Worth to all our young people. This mission is a reflection of the fact that at the heart of our organisation is our belief in a “can do” attitude and never giving up on any young person. our dedicated staff team understand and are committed to the principles of equality and diversity. We will respect, uphold and celebrate the diversity of cultures, ethnic identities, religion and traditions of all young people in our care. The cultural, linguistic and religious needs of young people will be identified during our referral process and our pastoral team will put in place any measures necessary to support these needs. The support will range from attending local churches, mosques, festivals, holidays to country of origin, special meals and celebrations, interpreters where necessary, appropriate advocacy that supports the young person needs, and any special adaptations for those with communication needs.
