We are dedicated to meeting the Care, Educational, Pastoral and Therapeutic needs of all our young people.

Our unique approach is based on our Social Pedagogical model which helps us achieve our ethos, outcomes and goals and is summarised below;

Staff focus on the young person as a whole person, and support for the young person’s overall development.

Staff sees themselves as individuals, in relationship with the young person.

Young people and staff are seen as inhabiting the same lifespace; not as existing in separate hierarchical domains.

As professionals, staff are encouraged constantly to reflect on their practice and to apply both theoretical understandings and self-knowledge to the sometimes-challenging demands with which they are confronted.

Children living in groups are seen as an important resource; staff are encouraged to foster and make use of the group.

Our approach builds on an understanding of children’s rights that is not limited to procedural matters of legislated requirements.

An emphasis on team work and on valuing the contribution of others in ‘bringing’ up children: other professionals, members of the community and parents within the appropriate legal framework.
